The Events & Volunteer Coordinator manages special events, provides administrative support, and manages volunteers at the Hiawatha Homes Foundation. The Events & Volunteer Coordinator’s primarily role is to manage the Festival of Trees, Hiawatha Homes’ signature fundraising event. The Festival of Trees takes place over the week of Thanksgiving and includes an Opening Night Gala, public viewing of the trees, children’s activities, a Friday Night Dance, and much more! Thousands of people attend this treasured holiday event each year.

All applicants must:

Possesses a bachelor’s degree; or associate’s degree and two years of related work; or four years of related work experience.

Experience in event planning and management.

Experience managing and/or collaborating with volunteers.

Is proficient in Microsoft Office suite.

Experience with CRM programs and/or donor databases is preferred.

Works irregular hours during peak event times (August-November), including evenings and weekends beyond normal working schedule. Must be able to work the week of Thanksgiving.

Has the ability to speak, write, and comprehend the English language.
- Practices effective written and oral communication skills.

Manages concurrent deadlines for multiple projects.

Possesses a valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor vehicle record. A personal vehicle is required to travel to/from off-site meetings and events.

Works successfully independently and as a member of various teams and committees.

Successfully passes a State of Minnesota background check.

Is able to provide proof of employment eligibility and proof of being free from tuberculosis upon hire.

Hiawatha Homes supports approximately 80 individuals in Olmsted County with developmental disabilities, physical health needs, brain injury, specialized medical needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and emotional and behavioral health needs.
Since opening in 1976, Hiawatha Homes has expanded to respond to the needs of the community. Currently, services include supporting individuals in nineteen residential-based homes, respite care, family support services, and in-home support.
