ABOUT THE ROLE:
We believe all students deserve an exemplary education to achieve at the highest levels. We work hard to make sure that our schools are inclusive, anti-racist, brave spaces where exceptional learners can reach their full potential. The selected candidate will provide academic and behavioral programming to students in our brand new Social/Emotional Teaching And Reinforcement (STAR) Center throughout the school day, and will oversee the integrity of the programming and all service activities that occur for assigned students. The STAR Center aims to deliver a transformative educational experience to middle school students who need specialized instruction focused on mental health and behavioral support. Our mission is to foster a safe, joyful, and consistent academic environment where students can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Administrative
-
Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians, and coworkers.
-
Support with assessment of students as a proctor and monitor of examinations, including the administration of testing accommodations
-
Engage in weekly grade-level RTI meetings to support the design and implementation of Tier 2 and 3 interventions
-
Work collaboratively with grade-level teams across content areas
-
Keep accurate and organized records of student information
-
Instruction
-
Coordinate with the Lead teacher to deliver developmentally appropriate curriculum and instruction, which reflects observations and goals of individual children
-
Provide targeted small-group instruction to students throughout the day
-
Provide direct service to students to help them achieve their IEP goals
-
Assist teachers with differentiation in the classroom

Provide a range of instructional, management, and assessment strategies to meet the needs of exceptional learners

Facilitate testing accommodations

Student Culture

Actively engage in identity work and necessary conversations in order to dismantle white supremacy culture

Establish a classroom culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students.

Keep the classroom environment organized, attractive, and safe.

Interact frequently and respectfully with students.

Assist with non-instructional supervision of students, such as arrival/dismissal, hallway monitoring, substitute teaching, lunch and playground duty, or supervision of extracurricular activities

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Associates or Bachelor’s degree required
Experience:
-
2+ years of experience working with K-8 students, during or after-school preferred
-
At least 1 year of experience working with K-8 students required
Licensure and Certification(s): Valid OH Educational Aide certificate/license, or must be in the process of obtaining a valid OH Educational Aide certificate/license.
