Position Overview: Renegade Processing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Second Shift Lead to oversee our meat processing operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the second shift team, ensuring production goals are met, and all company Good Manufacturing Practices and safety and quality standards are adhered to.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Supervision: Lead and supervise the second shift team, while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
- Training: Train new and retain existing employees as needed in processing, sanitation and GMP’s assuring SOPs are followed.
- Production Management: Lead production of meat processing (grinding, steak cutting and packaging lines), to ensure efficient operations and meet production targets.
- Sanitation: Lead the end of day sanitation operation to ensure compliance with the company’s strict sanitation standards.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications. Work closely with the quality control team to address any non-conformities.
- Safety Compliance: Lead safety protocols and promote a culture of safety among all team members. Conduct safety training and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of production, sanitation activities, and employee performance.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for second shift operations through effective communication to employees. Communicate with Plant Manager on production, quality, equipment and employee performance, and other issues that may affect production.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in meat processing, food safety, or sanitation are a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a meat processing facility, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong knowledge of sanitation practices and regulatory requirements in the meat processing industry.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
