JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Nursing assists with ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by being responsible for the overall staffing, staff training and development, and management of personnel in the Nursing Department. The Director of Nursing also is responsible for the overall quality of care assessment, planning, documentation, and provision of services to residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervising day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of the nursing department
- Create a positive team environment that is patient/resident-centered
- Demonstrate excellent understanding of clinical skills and key nursing programs
- Planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines
- Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating our written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the department
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting
- Help determine staffing needs
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of three year's experience in nursing service administration required
- Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York required
- Education or experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred
- Must be able to demonstrate age-specific knowledge of developmental factors for adult and geriatric residents
- Demonstrate effective communication skills, problem-solving, and conflict resolution
- Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
- Strong customer service skills and compassion
