The Volunteer Coordinator will manage Central Wyoming Retired Senior Volunteer Program and support Volunteer Wyoming. The Program provides volunteer opportunities for individuals 55 years and older to remain active and involved in their communities. Work involves program planning and implementation, program administration and budgeting, volunteer coordination and oversight, and public relations agencies. This position is under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director. Works under the Division Manager of Volunteer Programs.
- Responsible for recruiting and training volunteers to achieve appropriate program numbers, as mandated by funding source.
- Coordinate all functions of the program including the matching database, statewide volunteer center, volunteer management trainings, emergency volunteer reception centers, recruitment of volunteers, and service grants, & professional volunteering.
- Collect statistics and research on volunteerism in the region and demonstration sites.
- Organize, maintain and create record keeping documents.
- Assist in the development of Volunteer Wyoming materials for publication.
- Develop and support training and technical assistance to local volunteer efforts and volunteer initiatives; provide on-going education, outreach and resources on volunteer management practices in collaboration with other statewide efforts.
- Develop partnerships with statewide voluntary organizations.
- Leverage funds from businesses, foundations and corporations for sustainability.
- Research, disseminate and pursue grants to support the program.
- Develop partnerships, conduct outreach, research and analyze community assets, prepare business plans, goals and financial strategies to support volunteerism programs.
- Recruit, select, orient and place volunteers and RSVP volunteers with volunteer stations.
- Follow goals and objectives for Volunteer Wyoming and RSVP within the framework of established federal regulations and guidelines.
- Once approved by ED, reviews and adjusts program objectives and assesses operational practices, standards, program needs, available resources and other factors to accomplish goals and provide volunteer services to communities.
- Responsible for interacting, planning and coordinating with Division Manager of Volunteer Programs.
- Evaluates program effectiveness by tracking outcomes as stated on work plans.
- Prepares and submits annual grant renewal application for RSVP AmeriCorps.
- Works with Volunteer Division Manager to determine volunteer needs in each program.
- Assesses the specific and overall positive impacts that RSVP has supported in various organizations.
- Continually assesses volunteer needs of communities within the service area, and plans and develops on-going project operations in multiple locations.
- Arrange for formal and regular recognition of volunteers, organizations and individuals who have contributed to the support of RSVP.
- Assure volunteer orientation, in conjunction with volunteer stations.
- Develop and maintain close coordination and relationships with volunteer stations, including development of volunteer assignment plans.
- Attend training conferences required by Serve Wyoming and AmeriCorps.
- Provide federal rules/regulations, policies/procedures and other technical assistance to RSVP sites to ensure compliance
- Work closely with the ED and Volunteer Division Manager on budgets and budget projections.
- Provides program-level supervision of public relations and marketing activities to promote awareness of RSVP.
- Provides older adults with opportunities to remain active and involved in their community.
- Maintains active involvement with community partners and other related programs dealing with volunteers and older adults.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Demonstrated excellent communications skills, both written and oral
- Requires excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Must be a people person and enjoy bringing people together to achieve a common goal.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize online systems to maneuver and create reports in Excel, and other spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks and work under tight deadlines.
- Willingness to attract funds from individuals, businesses, and other potential contributors.
- Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills, including the ability to work effectively with citizens in all walks of life.
- Self-disciplined, self-starting style though accustomed to work with supervision.
- Must be willing to travel and represent the organization by speaking knowledge able about Serve Wyoming.
- Capacity to assess community issues with patience, open-mindedness, mature judgment, and imagination.
- Knowledge of program management, federal grant RSVP rules and compliance.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain cooperative, professional and productive work relationships with others.
