Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced Class B CDL Driver to join our transportation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to efficiently transport lumber and building materials to various locations.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Safely and efficiently operate and maneuver company vehicles, including trucks with Class B CDL, to transport lumber and building materials to designated locations.
- Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment and procedures.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in proper working condition and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, DOT regulations, and company policies and procedures.
- Navigate a smartphone and using industry-specific applications.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, vendors, and customers.
- Provide excellent customer service, including assisting with unloading and resolving any delivery issues or concerns.
- Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of the truck and equipment.
- Restock material and assist in the lumberyard once daily deliveries have been completed.
A successful candidate would be comfortable in a warehouse / industrial space, have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and enjoy working independently. This position is primarily a driving role, and also encompasses customer service, material handling, forklift operation, and inventory accountability.
A successful Delivery Driver for a lumber company would have a number of strengths including:
- Organization: This role exists within a team setting, but allows for large amounts of independent work to take place - so, organization and the ability to stay on task is important.
- Attention to Detail: A Delivery Driver will be responsible for handling several different types of paperwork and various delivered materials, so attention to detail is crucial.
- Communication: This role involves working closely with multiple team members and clients. Strong, professional communication skills are important.
- Time Management: This role involves completing a series of scheduled deliveries, so being able to schedule one's time effectively is important.
Requirements:
- Able to lift heavy objects, up to 80 lbs., and operate equipment for loading and unloading.
- Valid Class B CDL with clean driving record.
- Ability to arrive to work on-time.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
This role is primarily Monday - Friday, 7:30am-5pm - but does also require rotating Saturdays, 8am-noon. This position does have the potential for overtime.
This position is contained within the Operations Department, and all Operations employees are required to obtain a forklift certification. The company provides this certification at no cost to the employee. This position requires safety toe shoes and high visibility clothing - both of which are provided by the company at no cost to the employee.

Additional Information:
- Previous experience in construction material supply and delivery is preferred, although not required
- Available Over-Time! (1.5x hourly rate)
- A recent copy of your MVR (within 30 days) is an advantage while applying for this position
