Job Overview
The LCPS Head Start Project Assistant provides program assistance and clerical support to the Head Start and STEP Supervisor and other Preschool Office staff members. This position shares responsibility providing services for children and families from diverse backgrounds enrolled and enrolling in the Head Start and STEP preschool programs. This position requires an ability to keep accurate records and to communicate responsibly and respectfully with families, school system employees, and community partners.
Roles and Responsibilities

Provide application support by phone, email, or in-person (enrollment/general information)

Request, collect, and upload eligibility documentation

Calculate family income to verify eligibility for the Head Start and STEP programs using state and federal guidelines

Record and manage daily attendance and conduct absence follow-up for Head Start students

At the discretion of the Head Start and STEP Supervisor, assist staff members with projects

Provide classroom support as needed
Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Experience
General office experience
Licenses and Certifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and data management systems (ChildPlus Data Management System preferred)

Ability to work independently, to review and interpret regulations relating to the Head Start & STEP programs, and to take appropriate actions to ensure successful completion of projects promptly and accurately

Good organizational, human relations and communication skills

Bi-lingual preferred
