Packaging Technician sets up, adjusts, operates and monitors the diverter table, slicers, wrapper, metal detector and checkweigher. He/She will perform minor mechanical and preventative maintenance procedures on the above listed equipment. The Packaging Operator will initialize the changeover between varieties through the operator interface terminal and also assist the Packaging Utility and Helpers when necessary. He/She will clean all related equipment between changeovers. The Packaging Operator will perform all allergen clean ups and quality checks in accordance with standard procedures then neatly and accurately fill out all necessary paperwork. Responsible for area housekeeping and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Functions:
1) Efficiently maintains the operation of the complex production machines within the facility to include multifaceted changeovers and control panel adjustments.
2) Review pertinent information with the previous shift i.e. mechanical issues etc
3) Monitor slicer for proper number of slices every 15 minutes
4) Monitor heat line on the wrapper to assure proper seal
5) Monitor product flow to the wrapper, so it does not jam
6) Change film on the wrapper when needed
7) Change blades on the slicer when needed
8) Set lugs and former to assure proper wrapping
9) Set check weigher to proper product and perform checks
10) Ensures racking off verbiage
11) Set Metal Detector to specifications for product running and perform checks
12) Assist with the re-wraps as needed
13) If running the recip slicer – change slicer heads when needed
14) Perform routine preventative maintenance
15) Trouble shoots production machinery and completes preventative maintenance.
16) Utilize technical manuals and blueprints
17) Neatly and accurately fill out all necessary documentation (Ex. HACCP – CTS)
18) Communicate well with co-workers and supervisors
19) Follow all JSA guidelines
20) Maintain a safe, neat, and clean work area environment in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Housekeeping Practices (GHP's)
21) Reads and understands batch sheets including

Rate of Pay: $28.50-$32.00

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
