The medical receptionist will check in and check out patients including collecting co-pays or account balances. They will help answer multi line phone as well as assist in scheduling of appointments for patients. Help access and assign fax in box in EHR to appropriate departments. Enter accurate demographic information into EHR when necessary. Builds and maintains good rapport with providers’ offices. Assists others in medication prior auth, scheduling tests and any other tasks that are needed.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED. Prior experience working a medical setting required.
Experience: Prior medical customer service experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology and knowledge of current testing and patient preparation preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to operate a multi-line phone. Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice. Ability to quickly learn a variety of software/hardware products. Communication skills, verbal and listening. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations. Ability to operate equipment typically found in a business office environment.
