A Field Service Technician is a service professional who is accountable for carrying out on-site installation, maintenance and repairs to high-value food industry equipment
Responsibilities and Duties
- Serves existing accounts by analyzing work orders; planning daily travel schedule; investigating complaints; conducting tests; resolving problems.
- Establishes service by studying system requirements; ordering and gathering components and parts; completing installation; performing acceptance tests.
- Maintains rapport with customers by examining complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; recommending system improvements.
- Documents service and installation actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
- Service and Repair equipment on site at customer’s locations
- Answer technical support calls and inquiries
- Diagnose and repair customer equipment in a timely manner
- Assist, diagnose and resolve all customer related mechanical, hardware, software and technical installations
- Provide quotes after determining the most cost-effective repair resolution to minimize customer downtime
- Develop and maintain positive customer relations; coordinate with various departments within the company to ensure customer requests are handled appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Must be able to read and interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints
- Knowledge of basic AC/DC theory, electronic components, and electronic circuitry
Job Requirements:
- Electrical & Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to follow electrical schematic diagrams to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment.
- Experience servicing supermarket & restaurant equipment is preferred
- Ability to drive long distances and for long periods of time
- General knowledge of customer service practices and procedures
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to work overtime when required
- Must have current valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Must be able to lift 50lb plus
- Clean Driving Record a must
- Capable of completing tasks and repairs based upon directed supervision
- To cover North New Jersey area
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in warehouse operations; operating standard office equipment including pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: basic computer use, basic vehicle maintenance, and safety practices and procedures.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working in inclement weather; and physical stamina.
