Job Description: Survey CAD Technician
(8+ Years Experience)
Summary/Objective:
GeoPoint Surveying, Inc. is a land surveying firm with multiple locations, specializing in land development, oil/gas, energy, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys and subsurface utility engineering.
A Survey CAD Technician, generally known as a draftsman, uses CAD software to create technical drawings and plans for products and parts used in the engineering, construction, and manufacturing industries.
CAD technicians work with architects and design engineers to understand the requirements of their initial designs and turn them into accurate and detailed technical drawings in 2D and 3D models.
Essential Job Functions:
- Draft Subdivision Plats, Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and other related Surveys
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Field Crews, and Clients
- Build 3D Surface Models
- Write Legal Descriptions
- Prepare Exhibits and Sketches
- Review of Legal Descriptions and Title Information
- Prepare Record Drawings from Field Data & Notes
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong computer skills
- Great math skills required
- Knowledgeable in AutoCad Civil 3D
- Able to enter time
- Use GeoPoint server file system to catalog all data
- Utilize GeoPoint layering system
- Utilize GeoPoint styles
- Properly identify corners
- Understand dimensioning and orientation
- Import survey data
- Understand labeling of improvements and occupation
- Prepare a formboard tie-in/foundation survey
- Able to meet deadlines
- Able to revise redlines and send to signing surveyor
- Able to communicate to field crews if work is missing
- Understand different municipalities’ requirements
- Have field experience
- Prepare a final survey
- Able to peer review field work
- Understand how to read a plat
- Understand how to read construction plans
- Add final certifications to final survey
- Understand how to read a JIO (Job Initiation Order)
- Create plot plan, a boundary survey and topographic survey/lot drainage plan
- Complete GeoPoint Advanced CAD courses
- Calc missing corner and send to field crews
- Create a plot plan in new subdivision
- Able to perform Priority (HOT) Final Surveys
- Calc stake outs
- Calc grade stakes
- Check stake outs
- Complete formboard verification reports
- Correspond with clients
- Create elevation certificates
- Create a CS for a subdivision
- Identify flood zones using FEMA portal
- Create a flood zone drawing
- Knowledge of field operations
- Creating and exporting text file / create a point map
- Draw building from house
- Convert from feet and inches to decimal
- Able to train techs
Work Environment:
- Able to work overtime and some weekends
- Able to work well in a team environment as well as being self-motivated and driven

- Frequently sit, stand, or walk
- May lift, carry, push, or pull objects of various weights
- May reach, kneel, crouch, bend, or twist
- Some other physical demands may come up
Work Environment:
- Desk/Workstation may be located in a confined area
- Moderate noise indoors/outdoors (i.e., computers, phones, printers, and traffic)
- Able to work well in a team environment as well as being self-motivated and driven

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
