Job Summary - The purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to complete tasks integral to systems operation, and to continue learn about the function and purpose of all OSF systems. In addition to the responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician, Technicians will be responsible for completing repairs to facility systems. Technicians are expected to gain experience in the responsibilities described below, continue to increase their knowledge in maintenance related areas, and deepen their knowledge of the OSF facility. Maintenance Manager has power to terminate or promote Technicians at will.
OSF Requirements – Technicians are required to have successfully completed 90 day probation period.
Responsibilities & Accountability Standards
Follow Direction from Maintenance Management.
- Maintenance Management provides direction for daily tasks.
- Maintenance Management will provide direct training & coaching for daily tasks when needed.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Management on the creation of new protocol/standards.
- Follow all protocol/standards detailed in trainings.
- Act in accordance with OSF Values (Trust/Respect/Care) described in OSF Employee Manual.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Management on creating and maintaining a positive work environment using OSF Values (Trust/Respect/Care).
Preventative Maintenance (PM)
- All PM actions/operations directed by Maintenance Management.
- Utilize CMMS to schedule and complete PM work.
- Perform scheduled PM in accordance with protocol displayed in Maintenance Manual.
- Help train new Maintenance Technicians on proper technique when performing PM.
Facility Maintenance Requests
- All Maintenance Request actions/operations directed by Maintenance Management.
- Receive training/coaching from Maintenance Management.
- Follow Troubleshooting Protocol when diagnosing repairs.
- Complete Maintenance Request diagnoses as directed by Maintenance Management.
- Help train new Maintenance Technicians on proper technique when performing diagnoses.
- Systems Repair
- All system repair directed by Maintenance Management.
- Receive training/coaching from Maintenance Management.
- Complete repairs on facility plumbing systems as directed by Maintenance Management.
- Complete repairs on facility HVAC systems as directed by Maintenance Management.
- Complete repairs on general facility mechanical systems as directed by Maintenance Management.
- Complete repairs on facility power systems as directed by Maintenance Management.
- Complete repairs on facility control systems as directed by Maintenance Management.
- Initiate Maintenance Escalations when necessary and provide assistance to Engineering Department during escalation procedures.
- Help train new Maintenance Technicians on proper technique when performing repairs on systems.
Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)
- All CMMS actions/operations directed by Maintenance Management.
- Input data into CMMS when required.
- Generate Work Orders and information from CMMS when required.
Inventory Management
- All Inventory actions/operations directed by Maintenance Management.
- Check out parts and tools as needed for repair and improvement work, with approval from Maintenance Management.
- Sort and count inventory items as directed by Maintenance Management.
Engineering Support
- All project work directed by Engineering Department.
- Complete project work as assigned by Maintenance Management.
- Receive training from Engineering on proper operation and maintenance of new systems.
- Provide suggestions for design/layout of new machinery and systems.
- Help train Maintenance Technicians on proper technique when performing work on new facility systems and improvements.
Continuing Education
- All Continuing Education activities directed by Maintenance Management.
- Continue to learn new skills and techniques as directed by Maintenance Management.
- Attend CMMS training sessions when assigned by Maintenance Management.
- Train electrical troubleshooting technique as directed by Maintenance Management.
ODA (Other Duties Assigned)
- Complete tasks in different OSF departments/areas if needed. These include but are not limited to Packaging/Processing operations, Warehouse operations, Shipping operations.
- Tasks examples include but are not limited to system/machine operation, vehicle operation, production or processing line work, sweeping floors, mopping floors, emptying trash bins.
Basic Job Requirements
Able to prove 18 years of age or older.
Able to prove status as U.S. Citizen, legal migrant to the U.S., or permanent resident of the U.S.
Able to work overtime/weekends (if necessary) to complete daily required tasks.
Able to take direction and carry out orders.
Able to communicate clearly.
Able to accept criticism/coaching and act accordingly.
Preference to applicants with two or more years maintenance experience in a food safe environment.
Physical Job Requirements
Able to stand and move on hard surfaces for extended periods of time.
Able to lift and move 1 to 50 pounds repeatedly.
Able to lift up to 80 pounds from the floor.
Able to squat, crouch, kneel, and reach repeatedly over the course of a working day.
Able to operate in cold temperatures for extended periods of time (as low as 0°F).
Able to operate hot temperatures for extended periods of time (as high as 120°F).
