We are looking for a part-time barista (10-15 hours per week)
Emma's Torch Cafe at 2212 Rhode Island Ave NE

At Emma's Torch we provide refugees with culinary training, ESL classes and interview preparation. We set them up for successful employment in an industry in which their cultural heritage and cuisine can be celebrated. What’s more, we provide a community in which they can build supportive relationships.

Responsibilities
- Make and serve coffee and tea beverages
- Greet our guests while being warm and welcoming
- Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
- Maintain a clean and sanitized work station
- Comply with health and safety regulations (Food Manager's or Food Handler's a plus)
- Adhere to recipes and presentations for food and beverage items
- Check if brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
- Be punctual and able to observe regular and consistent attendance
- Contribute to a positive team environment
Requirements
- Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress
- Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
- Knowledge of sanitation regulations
- Flexibility to work various shifts
- Basic math skills
- Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
- Excellent communication skills
- High school diploma; relevant training is a plus
Details
- Wednesday-Friday 7:30 am - 11:30 am with possibility of extension
- Start date: ASAP. Position through end of August with possibility of extentsion
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $21.00 per hour
