Position Summary: Heavy Assembler Mechanic II assists in processes and procedures associated with the disassembly and assembly of machinery and/or heavy equipment components. Overall responsible for cleaning and preparing job, loading and delivering materials and using a variety of tools and machines.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Performs hydraulic and electrical connections under the guidance of an Assembler III on an as needed basis.
- Performs work that is varied and instructions that may or may not be detailed.
- Spots inaccuracies or sub-standard qualities and preventing them from advancing through the assembly process.
- Performs quality work checks to insure the product meets quality standards.
- Identifies product defects and completes appropriate documentation when defects are identified.
- Assists less experienced Assembly Mechanics as necessary.
- Performs all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area.
- Confers with supervisor regarding quality or procedure problems.
- Performs all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 2 to 5 years related experience.
- Must be mechanically inclined.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems and D/C electrical systems.
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines.
- Ability to read and use a torque wrench.
- Experience in industrial equipment, preferred.
- Owns a basic set of hand tools.
- Proficient in the English language.
Working Conditions:
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Prolonged periods of sitting on a forklift or other warehouse equipment.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, breathing protection, and hard hats when needed.
- Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to move and lift to 40-pound wooden skid or pallet.
- Ability to travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
