Somerset Beach Campgrounds (SBC) is a non-profit, Free Methodist Church-affiliated ministry providing Christian camping experiences in beautiful Southern Michigan. Our mission is to glorify God by creating an environment where people of all ages can experience spiritual growth and renewal. We offer a variety of programs, with a focus on impactful youth camps during the summer months.
About the Role:
The Executive Director is a visionary leader responsible for the overall success and strategic direction of Somerset Beach Campgrounds. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, you will oversee all aspects of operations, ensuring they align with SBC’s mission and financial health. This role requires a passionate leader with a deep commitment to Christian camping and a strong track record of success in non-profit management.
Responsibilities:
● Leadership & Vision:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership for SBC, developing and implementing long-term plans that ensure the ongoing success of the ministry.
- Foster a positive and Christ-centered work environment, motivating and inspiring staff and volunteers.
- Cultivate strong relationships with the Board of Directors, keeping them informed and engaged.
● Ministry & Spiritual Growth:
- Champion the spiritual core of SBC, ensuring all programs and activities reflect our Christian values.
- Develop and oversee a vibrant worship program for staff and campers.
● Operational Excellence:
- Oversee all aspects of daily operations, including staff management, budgeting, facilities maintenance, and program development.
- Implement effective systems and processes to ensure smooth and efficient campground operations.
- Manage and delegate effectively, empowering staff and volunteers to contribute their talents.
● Financial Stewardship:
- Develop and oversee a sustainable financial plan, securing funding for operations, debt retirement, and ongoing development.
- Implement creative fundraising initiatives to build a strong financial foundation for SBC.
- Ensure responsible fiscal management and adherence to sound financial principles.
● Community & Growth:
- Represent SBC as an official spokesperson, building relationships with community partners and church leaders.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and promotional program to attract new campers and groups.
- Oversee guest services, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all visitors.
Qualifications:
- Deep commitment to Christian faith and a passion for Christian camping ministry.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in non-profit leadership or a relevant field.
- Proven track record of success in strategic planning, financial management, and fundraising.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team in a faith-based environment.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to work on-site at the Somerset Beach Campground in Michigan.
Bonus Points:
- Experience in the camping industry or youth ministry.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
