Join our dynamic Stakeholder Training team as our Sr. Instructional Designer!
In this role, you will partner closely with stakeholders to assess current and future training needs across critical areas such as reliability/operations, SPP energy markets, on-boarding, transmission planning, and settlements. Working alongside subject matter experts from various departments at SPP, you'll lead engaging discussions to design and develop effective training solutions.
As a Senior Instructional Designer, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure that our training and performance support initiatives meet their expectations, providing valuable learning opportunities to bridge knowledge and skills gaps. You'll also play a crucial role in forecasting project timelines and managing deliverables, proactively identifying and mitigating risks associated with our training programs.
This dynamic position involves extensive interaction and collaboration with employees at all organizational levels, as well as with members, stakeholders, contractors, and vendors. We are looking for someone with a diverse skill set encompassing project management, systematic development approaches, writing/editing, facilitation, and outstanding oral communication and presentation skills.

To be successful as the Sr. Instructional Designer, we're looking for a:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an education/training-related field
- Six (6) years of curriculum design and development experience
- Deep understanding of the systematic approach to training
- Oral and written communications, presentation skills, and training development skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, a large volume of work, and stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards, SPP Criteria, SPP Market Protocols, the SPP OATT, and FERC regulatory orders of regional significance to SPP
- Ability to lead and facilitate training sessions and work with subject matter experts across the company and with stakeholders
- Knowledge of and experience in the incorporation of technology into the learning experience (e.g., apps, software, hardware, etc.)
- Adaptability and strong analytical skills
- Evidence of self-initiative, self-direction, motivation, as well as critical and creative thinking skills
- Flexibility and the ability to function with constantly changing and multiple priorities
- Excellent organizational skills
Preferred:
- Experience in the electric utility industry is preferred
- Knowledge of and experience in market operations will be considered favorably
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of workweek are Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Working extended hours may be required.
Travel Requirement:
This position requires minimal (20-30%) travel.
