Real estate transactions require the efficient and timely handling of funds and documentation. Escrow Assistants help perform this critical function every day. Escrow Assistants mainly provide administrative support for the Escrow Officer. This requires office administrative skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately under time constraints. Escrow Assistants need solid communication and customer service skills and a thorough understanding of escrow practices and real estate principles.
Escrow Assistants perform a variety of general clerical tasks and must be able to multi-task. They need to possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Some daily tasks that you could expect include gathering client and financial information, handling funds, data entry, and responding to information requests. You may also prepare, assemble, and deliver escrow documents.
Company standards for an Escrow Assistant include:
- A basic understanding of real estate contracts, mortgage loans, title commitments, and title insurance
- Basic knowledge of title insurance, regulatory guidelines, the escrow process, legal documents, and real estate property law
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency working with escrow / title software
- Continually increase knowledge of industry development and changes
- Promote and maintain favorable customer relations for company by providing exemplary customer service.
General Overview of Escrow Assistant Responsibilities:
- Assist the Escrow Officer in managing real estate transactions, including opening and closing escrow accounts, preparing documents, and processing files.
- Communicate with clients, real estate agents, and lenders to ensure a smooth and timely transaction.
- Review and audit all closing documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in resolving issues related to escrow transactions.
- Ensure all documentation is properly filed and archived.
- Perform various administrative duties as needed to support the Escrow Officer.
Escrow Assistants are encouraged to take on more responsibilities over time to eventually become Escrow Officers.
