We are looking for an open-minded and growth-oriented Dental Hygienist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for patient data collection and documentation, patient education, and the delivery of preventive and periodontal treatment to include examining oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be highly organized, and have experience in the dental field. The ideal candidate is able to quickly build rapport with both patients and co-workers and who has a strong desire to keep learning about dental hygiene.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the dental operatory and equipment in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
- Demonstrate professional behavior at all times.
- Administer local anesthetic agents & administer and monitor nitrous oxide.
- Apply fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay.
- Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by dentist.
- Clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums using dental instruments.
- Examine gums, using probes, to locate periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.
- Take digital xrays, use intra-oral camera and iTero scanner
- Feel and visually examine gums for sores and signs of disease.
- Feel lymph nodes under patient's chin to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate the presence of oral cancer.
- Maintain dental equipment and sharpen and sterilize dental instruments.
- Maintain patient recall system.
- Make impressions for study casts.
- Provide clinical services and health education to improve and maintain the oral health of patients and the general public.
- Record and review patient medical histories; Take and record blood pressure.
- Remove excess cement from coronal surfaces of teeth.
- Remove sutures and dressings.
- Administer medications or treatments.
- Use sanitation practices in healthcare settings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of periodontal maintenance techniques.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with other dentists and hygienists, specialists and other dental facility staff members.
- Prepare patient for treatment according to contractual agreement.
- Set up treatment rooms and sterilization equipment as needed.
- Remain calm in stressful situations.
- Operate office equipment as necessary, including x-ray machines, sterilization equipment, etc.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 14 – 27 per week
