Position: Master Plumber or Journeyman
The Ben Franklin Block Buildings are prominent historic Buildings in Portsmouth’s historic district. The current construction project is converting the upper four floors to beautiful market rate and quality residential units, bringing this 19thcentury architectural gem into the 21stcentury. We need you to be responsible for the Mechanical/Plumbing team for the Project.
General Job Description:
Responsible for performing and leading plumbing and some HVAC work advanced carpentry for the building's new residential units. Executes details with a high level of craftsmanship. Provides dependable and consistent work production. Ensures teamwork and quality is maintained. Takes direction from Owner or Project Superintendent. Leads a team of two to three. Experience/Education Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
10 years+ in residential construction.
5 years+ as licensed Master Plumber
Proficiency in all aspects of Multifamily and Residential bathroom, kitchen, and meter installation experience needed.
Experience piping heat pump and water circulation lines for water source heat pumps or the equivalent, and, kitchen/fireplace gas line installation experience helpful.
Qualities Required:
Must be able to work independently and work with our construction team of various trade professionals. Read and interpret plumbing plans. Make material lists. Independently plan your work based on plans and your experience. Estimate time to complete fixture installation. Inspect your own plumbing work for code compliance; sturdy joints, proper hanging, and good aesthetics. Must be able to, and have experience, performing higher quality work. Familiarity with the plumbing code is a must.
Must pull permits or assist in pulling permits. Responsibilities include scheduling inspections and walk throughs with City Inspectors.
Direct the kitchen and bath installation for current 35 residential unit project.
Work with one other Master plumber on the project.
Manage the renovation of water, and storm drain, from the city lines.Must be an experienced lead carpenter. Read plans, make materials list, and direct work of a couple of other carpenters.
Solid work ethic.

Has a good sense of aesthetics and appreciates architectural detail.
Is candid and honest. Starts at 7AM and directs other to put in a good day.

Requirements/qualities for Advancement:
Demonstrates and adeptness at consistently implementing craftsman level work and can teach/lead others in this work.
Displays commitment to quality. Demonstrated team player. Demonstrates ability to execute the work per plans and specifications. Working knowledge of Interior finishes, advanced stair, roof, floor, wall, systems. Shows growing responsibility capabilities, including maintaining high quality production with a 1-3 person crew. Able to create scope of work and manage materials needed to complete it.
Salary Range/Pay Scale: Open, Flexible, And Compensation is reviewed in 30, 90, and 180 days.

Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
