The Assistant Distribution Team Lead is responsible for guiding, helping and facilitating a diverse group of employees to accomplish daily tasks and responsibilities connected with the Distribution Center based on instructions of the Supervisor and Warehouse Manager.
PRIMARY ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General duties
- Coach and mentor team members.
- Team Building.
- Ensure all needed documents are printed i.e.: work order pick lists, shipping fulfillment slips, travelers, line layouts and line check sheets.
- Maintains an organized shipping and warehouse based on company policies and procedures.
- Microsoft Office required the ability to maintain and update spreadsheets daily.
- Good communication skills are required.
- Performs various other duties as specified by the Supervisor or Manager.
- Maintain a clean and hazard free workplace.
- Identify, assess, and communicate safety concerns immediately to the Supervisor.
- Enforce company processes and policies and take initiative to ensure that these are followed consistently.
- Be a role model and change agent by embracing continuous improvement ideas and concepts.
- Take an active role in identifying problem issues and make recommendations toward continuous improvement.
Shipping
- Ability to manage team members.
- Responsible for assigning and issuing out pick tickets as needed, (SP and TL / LTL.)
- Monitor team member performance, ensure that team members are scanning product correctly.
- Works closely with planners and customer service.
- Required to audit compliance orders for accuracy prior to shipping.
- Required to be able to manually pick / pack and systematically unpack an order as needed.
- Ensures accurate and timely completion of all sales orders.
- Ensures the customer requests per sales order are accurately followed, packing / pallet height requirements, UCC 128 labels as required by customers.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- 5+ plus years shipping & warehouse experience in a lead position.
- Kaizen experience a plus.
- Familiar with Cause/Countermeasure analysis.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Verbal communication skills – The ability to provide timely and accurate communication in a professional and tactful manner, and to do so with a wide range of personalities and departments over the possibility of multiple shifts.
- Must have good math skills.
- Organizational skills – Exceptional organizational skills are a must. Possessing a high degree of self-discipline and the ability to complete duties fully with minimal supervision.
- Must strive constantly for ever-increasing ways to improve both personal productivity and department processes.
- Attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing warehouse environment.
- Computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Excel, Word and PowerPoint a plus.
- Demonstrates ability to use WMS and RF scanning equipment.
- Demonstrates good leadership skills.
