The Operating Room Technician functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Reports to the Clinical Coordinator and/or Surgical Services Director.
Requirements
- Graduate from Surgical Technology school preferred
- High school diploma or GED combined with direct scrub experience required
- Surgical Technologist through the NBSTSA OR NCCT a plus but not required
- Current BLS from the AHA or ARC
- Ability to work off shifts and pm shifts, take night and weekend call shifts.
- Able to cover all specialties daily and on-call.

Responsible for the delivery of patient care by applying skills and techniques common to the practice of Operating Room Technician, accepting accountability for the technical execution of scrubbing responsibilities for those patients within the GI Lab and OR.
About the Job
- Concise management of preparation of each surgical case
- Maintaining the sterile environment of the operating room until the patient is brought to the recovery room
- Sterilizing the equipment and operating room
- Helping with preparing the patient for surgery
- Gathering, counting, and arranging the equipment and surgical tools needed during the surgery
- Passing surgical tools to the surgeon and the surgeon’s assistant
- Assisting in retracting tissues from the surgical patient
- Counting all of the tools and instruments used during the surgery
- Applying dressings to surgical sites
- Disposing of needles and gauze
