Definition
This position is responsible for supervising the movement of reentrants in community-based correctional centers on a twenty-four-hour basis. This individual will maintain building security and reentrant accountability. Responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining order within facility by enforcing rules and regulations, writing misconduct/infraction reports, performing headcounts, conducting security rounds, search and seizure, urinalysis collection and testing, alcolyser screening, detaining reentrants if necessary, reentrant processing, reentrant escorts, use of NIK Narcotics Identification System tests, and assisting with K-9 unit to complete searches of the facility. Correctional Security Monitors will also be required to work closely with local law enforcement agencies, the Allegheny County Jail, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Pennsylvania State Parole, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Eligibility Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalency and two years related experience required. An Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or a related discipline may be substituted for the 2 year related experience requirement. An Associate’s degree and two years related experience is preferred. Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, Act 33/34 and a high degree of ethics required.
Ability to function in a team setting; Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time; Supervisory experience is highly desirable. Must be able to work well with people and have the ability to be assertive and remain calm in the event of a crisis and be capable of maintaining control in any given situation. Computer literacy is a must.
