The Position:
The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Equipment and Engineering Director and performs technical engineering work, including supplying design, analysis, estimating, and consulting services for both internal and external customers. Typical responsibilities require applying critical engineering and management thinking.
The position holds a wide variety of responsibilities that include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for developing, testing, modifying, and creating solutions to mechanical related technical problems.
- Work collaboratively with Project Management and the Engineering and Equipment Director to create and implement mechanical systems, structures, and component designs and technological solutions on projects.
- Manage engineering projects by developing project schedules and budgets, prioritizing project related tasks and tracking cost.
- Assist with mechanical plans and secure technical quotes for systems, structures and components.
- Assist with modifications to existing equipment, systems, structures, and components.
- Respond to site-based requests for information, including analysis and recommendations.
- Prepare and present project documents including calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Responsible for engineering design reviews, ensuring fit, function, and accuracy of engineering.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to mechanical systems, structures and components.
- Assist with preparing estimating takeoffs and securing subcontractor and vendor pricing.
- Travel to project sites as needed, approximately 15-25% travel is required to support projects.
- Other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited institution.
- GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of related internship experience; prior construction/heavy civil related Mechanical Engineering experience preferred.
- Experience and proficiency with AutoCAD or related programs.
- Primavera P6 scheduling proficiency is a plus.
- Strong Technical report writing and editing skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities. Self-motivated, flexible, and responsive.
- Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with Engineering Department and Project Teams. Strong sense of customer service and follow through.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry 20-30 lbs and work in a confined space environment.
