Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for providing care and supervision of children
Report any and all suspected, knowledge of, or observation of child abuse or neglect of a person under the age of 18 to Child Protective services or local law enforcement agency.
Conduct daily inspection for illness with every child
Ensure that all children are signed in and out, daily
Responsible for leadership of assigned classroom & mentoring Associate Teachers and Teacher Assistants assigned to your classroom
Manage the overall supervision and day-to-day care and development of an assigned group of children
Develop and implement curriculum for assigned group of children
Establish a trusting relationship with each child, create a nurturing social and learning environment, and be attentive to the needs of each child
Exhibit positive behavior to children, parents, and all other team members at all times.
Qualifications & Skills
Must be at least 18 years of age at time of employment
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead & manage the operation of indoor and outdoor preschool environments.
Demonstrated ability to implement emergent curriculum and innovative strategies to promote learning.
Demonstrated ability to lead adults and offer feedback to Master Teacher and Site Supervisors on performance of Associate Teachers and Teacher Assistants.
Demonstrated ability to effectively conduct formal and informal observations and assessments of students.
Demonstrated ability to interact with young children utilizing developmentally appropriate practices.
Demonstrated ability to effectively create an inclusive environment that is accepting of individual differences including, but not limited to racial, ethnic, cultural, socio-economic and gender diversity.
Ability to form partnerships with parents for the benefit of the child.
Ability to build interpersonal relationships with supervisors, co-workers, parents, and community partners.
Must have excellent communication skills that include the use of proper grammar when speaking and writing, listening to understand, writing in complete sentences, and using proper punctuation.
Education & Experience
24 postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units completed with C or better at an accredited or approved college or university. Must include 3 units each (12 total) in: , , and .
5 years consistent teaching experience in a licensed preschool environment
Certifications
Valid Teacher Permit issued by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) –or higher or qualification for this permit verified by HR/Director
16 hours of Health & Safety training
8 hours of EMSA certified Preventative Health Practices training, including Lead Prevention
8 hours of EMSA certified Pediatric First Aid & CPR training (2 years current)
Mandated Reporter Training - AB1207 Child Care Providers (2 years current)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
