Primary Tasks and Responsibilities
The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Health and Safety Management program under the direction of the Director of Governmental and Regulatory Affairs. The Health and Safety Manager will minimize risks posed by hazards to its employees and to the company by supporting hazard control systems and programs while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
· Develop, implement, and audit Health and Safety programs.
· Conduct internal Health and Safety audits.
· Perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions and provide Health and Safety recommendations.
· Maintain the Company’s Environmental, Health and Safety training program.
· Develop and conduct employee training relating to OSHA General Industry standards.
· Perform hazard assessments and provide recommendations to control hazards. Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures according to the hazard assessment.
· Perform job tasks observations and retrain where needed.
· Provide daily operational support to field management in Environmental, Health, and Safety areas.
· Conduct contractor orientation and ensure contractors are complying with Health and Safety policies and standards as needed.
· Conduct incident investigations and participate in employee incident reviews for Environmental, Health, and Safety incidents and near-misses.
· Analyze incident data and performance metrics to identify trends.
· Maintain awareness of current regulations.
· Perform related duties and participate as needed in special projects as assigned.

Job Knowledge / Skill Requirements
· Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances covering OSHA General Industry and Health and Safety regulatory standards.
· Lab Safety, Confined Space, HAZWOPER and RCRA experience are beneficial.
· Demonstrate sound judgment and follow timely incident reporting, follow-up, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
· Working knowledge of MS office applications.
· Ability to work independently as well as within groups to meet established timelines.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
· Proficient in English, spelling, and arithmetic.
· Excellent planning and organizational skills.
· Ability to travel as needed ~25%, overnight stays may be required.
· Must adhere to company safety standards.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years experience in environmental, health and safety, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Bachelor’s Degree in environmental, health and safety management, occupational health, or related science.
- Certifications are a plus (CSP, CIH, PE, CHMM etc.)

- Ability to work outdoors and in industrial settings.
- Intermittent physical activity, including standing, lifting, bending, reaching, walking, and driving.
- Ability to occasionally work 2nd or 3rd shift hours if needed.
