Approximately 48 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2023, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation's 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact of $38 billion annually.
The City of Phoenix Aviation Department is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, and talented individual for our Terminal Operations Coordinator (Aviation Supervisor II) at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. This position interacts heavily with airport operations, the Airport Duty Manager, airlines, and vendors while collaborating with outside organizations, government agencies, and command center staff. The focus of the role will be to ensure an enhanced passenger experience by being responsible for overseeing the stability and efficiency of airport and airline operations within the terminal buildings. This position will supervise Terminal Operations staff and will be responsible for managing administrative tasks and other functions necessary for consistent and optimal airport operational performance. This position will report to the Terminal Operations Manager.
Duties for the Terminal Operations Coordinator position include:
- Coordinate all activities within the terminal buildings and on the airport's common use infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the Airport Duty Manager, airlines, command center staff, and other stakeholders.
- Manage the airline scheduling, aircraft gate resources, passenger check-in counters, baggage carousel usage, and flight information displays.
- Streamline work processes to facilitate quick response to common use issues, audit compliance, and updating Aviation rules and regulations.
- Work closely with field staff to continuously develop new ways to enhance the passenger experience and the airport's terminal operations and common use systems.
- Overseeing and managing the Airport's Management System, analyzing flight data, providing necessary reports, and inputting airline flight schedules for tenants utilizing the common use platform.
- Assist in the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures to ensure efficient common use facility operations; international flight operations and compliance with International and Customs and Border Protection processing standards.
- Work with Transportation Security Administration security requirements as they relate to a common use environment; while providing general direction to airlines and staff on common use baggage handling system operations.
