New Starting Rate: $26.27 per hour

This position will start on first shift (6 months) and then you will be required to work second shift.
Must be able to acquire Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) within six (6) months of employment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduation from a standard high school, vocational school, or equivalent.
- Possess a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License; maintained in good standing.
- The knowledge and basic ability to use math when required.
- Successful completion of oral, and field performance testing to demonstrate the acquisition of basic knowledge of the tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials.
- Ability to interpret and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
- Must be able to acquire Commercial Driver’s License (Class B) within six (6) months of employment. Must be able to work First and Second Shift as operations require.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This is a skilled and semi-skilled classification that is engaged in the manual and motorized activities involving storm and sanitary sewer line maintenance, cleaning, and evaluating, as well as other activities related directly or indirectly to the Sanitary Engineers areas of responsibility.
- The employee shall be subject to 24 hour a day, 7 day a week duties, as well as the normal workday of the department. Sewer Maintenance Worker primary role is that of laborer.
- Duties that will be performed daily, regardless of subsection assigned will include, but not limited to , assisting equipment operator in ensuring necessary equipment for the performance of routine assignments are loaded into vehicle.
- Return tools, equipment, supplies, and safety devices to the vehicle after completion of job. Clean tools , equipment, vehicle, and safety devices after completion of job or upon returning to yard.
- Open manholes by removing cover in prescribed manner and places cover near open manhole to ensure safety of the crew and general public.
- Shall act as signalman when required.
- Clean debris from invert and shelf of manhole after completion of various maintenance activities. Assist in setting up equipment when assistance is required in manhole or on top.
- Perform other work as assigned.
