JOB SUMMARY
This position contributes to Sanctuary success by ensuring smooth daily operations, management and profitability of the Purchasing Department. The Purchasing Manager is expected to be a ‘hands-on’ leader assisting management in training, scheduling, motivating, and developing purchasing staff members; with a focus on living the Sanctuary Commitments and our Promise of Care Enough to do it well, critical to the success of this position, as a heart of the house community member.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Note: the following duties and responsibilities are not all-inclusive.
Manage all aspects of Purchasing and Purchasing Storerooms:

All capital purchases – requiring 3 bids and approval of GM, Controller, Westroc & owner.

Work with departments to identify core lists.

Purchase Order System (maintain manual purchase order system).

Inventory Controls (purchasing storeroom inventory, pricing, extending, researching, etc.)
-
Interdepartmental requisition process (creation, tracking, reporting, etc.)
-
Receiving/delivery/shipping activities – establish processes and controls.

Vendor relations and negotiations which have been assigned or apply to Purchasing Manager.

COD activity.

Directly supervise a Purchasing staff and carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable law.

Effectively resolve staff workplace issues through problem resolution.

Effectively recommend as to hiring, promotions, wage adjustments, disciplinary actions, including terminations.

Effectively coach and counsel, when appropriate, providing continued staff development.

Maintain optimum levels of team productivity through schedule and labor management.

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that enables getting along with guests, vendors, co-workers, and management.

Perform other duties and responsibilities asked by the Controller.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must understand FF&E, OS&E and logistics.

Ability to stand, sit, kneel and constantly be poised for mobility to handle specific details or demands of quality and speedy services.

Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Ability to listen effectively, to speak and write English clearly.

An individual that is highly detail oriented.

Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.

Take the initiative to make contributions to the department and resort while maintaining positive working relationships with co-workers.

Maintain good safety habits and report unsafe or hazardous conditions to Security.

Maintain a high level of work quality and quantity per resort standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School Diploma/G.E.D. Equivalent; College Degree preferred.
Prefer CPM certification.
Related Work Experience
3-5 years purchasing management experience.
Hospitality purchasing experience required.
Required Knowledge
Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
