Why This Opportunity Stands Out
Our client, a full-service engineering consulting company specializing in system design for energy and mobility, is looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Dexter, MI. We know what you’re thinking, another opportunity in engineering for a project-based company. Here’s where our client is different – their CEO recently purchased this business unit. So, they no longer have the “corporate monkey” on their back but have almost three years of a proven track record. They’re already to scale and profitable. So, you have the best of both worlds, stability but with an agile team where you’ll work with leaders who are pushing their clients to next-generation development. They can control their own destiny which means you can start your career in an environment that has no restrictions. You’ll also benefit from a collaborative, cross-functional setting where you won’t have to stay in your lane. Instead, you can dabble in other engineering disciplines and really be that jack of all trades. Because of the nature of their projects (electrification, hydrogen, power generation, e-mobility), your fingerprints will always be on innovation. So, if you want to be pigeonholed in one area and work with a boring team that has zero energy and excitement, this will not be a good fit. But, if you want to build your career with a truly fun, dynamic company during a time of limitless possibilities, don’t miss this opportunity.
Junior Electrical Engineer Description
You’ll work cross-functionally with their team of controls, systems, electrical, and mechanical engineers in the design, integration, and testing of control systems for a variety of applications and clients. They typically have about 10-12 active projects across the Team, and you’ll work simultaneously on 1-3 depending on project scope. Currently, most of their projects are focused on EVs – so you’ll have system level experience in designing and sourcing an electric vehicle’s high voltage system, specifically in the DC fast charging hardware and software. This will be a fun sandbox to play in and you’ll work under experienced engineers who are excited to provide technical coaching and mentorship. You won’t be sitting at a computer all day. You’ll have real hands-on work where you’re doing things point-to-point – designing, building, and integrating the harness yourself in the vehicle.
