THE POSITION:
As a Grants Accountant, you'll be the hero ensuring our financials are as precise as a Swiss watch. You'll collaborate closely with the Director of Contract and Grant Finance, submitting diverse grant invoices and aligning financials with program needs. Your role involves validating expenses, ensuring compliance, and maximizing funding. In short, you’re the financial guardian ensuring every dollar is used effectively.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Billing:
- Handle the entire grant billing and invoicing process with finesse.
- Review, process, and record A/R Billing invoices accurately.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and Federal Grant management practices.
- Collaborate across departments to address billing discrepancies.
- Ensure billing accuracy by capturing missing or incorrect support documents.
Reporting & Month-End Items:
- Document expenditure reimbursements timely and accurately.
- Oversee invoicing/reporting processes with strict compliance.
- Contribute to the month-end closing process with precision.
- Generate insightful reports on receivable account performance.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly for accurate billing.
Compliance:
- Update fiscal schedules related to accounts receivable.
- Track revenues and expenditures, assisting in Private Funds spenddown.
- Prepare detailed backup documentation for all grant submissions.
Other:
- Take on additional tasks and projects as assigned.
WHAT YOU’RE SKILLED AT:
- Deep knowledge of general accounting principles and compliance.
- Expertise in contract/grant administration.
- Proficiency in reporting requirements and meticulous preparation of financial statements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong computer literacy.
- Exceptional multitasking and organizational skills.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintain confidential information per HIPAA standards.
- Obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Pass post-offer Tuberculosis (TB) clearances.
- Travel 5% of the time using a personal vehicle.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License and auto insurance.
- Work a 9/80 schedule with hybrid work-from-home options.
- Sit for prolonged periods.
WHAT YOU’VE ACCOMPLISHED:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or related field preferred.
- Minimum three years of specialized experience in grant accounting and reporting.
- Experience with non-profit and government grants.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite or similar software.
