GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking to hire one Biologist Technicians– Fisheries to assist fisheries biologists with surveys for Colorado River Cutthroat Trout in southwest Wyoming. The technician will assist with electrofishing surveys, genetic sample collection, and equipment upkeep and maintenance. These are contract positions funded from July 1, 2024, to October 31, 2024. This field position will require the operation of trucks, trailers, ATVs, and electrofishing equipment in rivers and streams. This position will be based out of Green River, Wyoming. Safely operate electrofishing equipment.

Safely handle, identify, and sample collected fish.

PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference may be given to those pursuing a career in fisheries. Preference may include those with a high school degree plus experience in fish and wildlife resource management, research, or college coursework towards a degree in fishery or wildlife management, ichthyology, hydrology, watershed science, or other closely related fields.

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Technicians must be able to work well independently with minimal supervision and work well with others on a small crew.

This is a field position that requires physical labor, such as hiking, wading in streams and rivers, and carrying backpacks.

Fieldwork can occur in inclement weather, and this position may require occasional camping in the field.
