Administrative Responsibilities Of Admissions External Marketer for a Skilled Nursing Facility
- Develop, coordinate, direct, and administer the Facility’s marketing and public relations programs and services
- Must frequently visit hospitals and assisted living facilities to establish relationships and attract new patients.
- Additionally, the marketer must regularly host and attend marketing events to build connections within the community and attract new residents
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the Facility’s public relations and marketing programs and activities in order to maintain and increase the census
- Provide the community with information relative to the Facility, its programs, services, and practices.
- Develop and maintain written policies and procedures that govern the release of information concerning the residents, employees, and/or the Facility in accordance with current Privacy Rules and Regulations.
- Assist department directors in the development and use of marketing and public relations policies and procedures, and establish a rapport in and between departments so that each staff member can realize the importance of his/her role in our marketing and public relations programs
- Interpret the Facility’s policies and procedures governing the release of information to employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc., as necessary.
- Ensure that public information (policy manuals, brochures, information packets, etc.,) describing the services provided in the Facility is accurate and fully descriptive
- Ensure that all employees follow established policies and procedures governing the release of information.
- In coordination with the Administrator, develop and implement long-range plans for the Facility in its effort to establish and maintain our marketing and public relations programs.
- Support and promote the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Facility’s marketing and public relations programs and activities
- Assist in standardizing the methods in which marketing and public relations programs and activities will be developed and implemented.
- Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the activities and programs of the marketing and public relations department.
- Represent the Facility at and participate in top-level meetings
- Maintain schedules for all marketing and public relations programs
- Organize and implement continuing internal communications through the use of bulletin boards, house organs, committee meetings, newsletters, brochures, and public announces, etc
- Schedule and participate in departmental meetings concerning our marketing and public relations programs and activities.
- Provide creative support for activity and social services departments in developing resident programs, publications, etc., as necessary.
- Develop, schedule, and guide tours and personnel through the Facility
- Keep a supply of brochures, and other printed material readily available for persons requesting such data.
- Assist in the developing and maintaining a volunteer program
- Maintain an adequate liaison with families, residents, and community and civic leaders.
- Participate in community service and civic groups to obtain information and seek support of these groups in charitable activities on behalf of the Facility.
- Supervise ongoing community service projects and develop appropriate problem-solving actions.
- Plan and implement special events that serve to advance staff, resident, and community relations.
- Coordinate special functions with all departments.
- Assist with promotions, publications, newsletters, etc., as necessary.
- Develop and maintain a current file of media contacts.
- Contact the news media when new programs, promotions, etc., are implemented within the Facility that will be beneficial to the Facility and community alike.
- Keep the Administrator informed of newspaper, radio, and television accounts of noteworthy items of general interest that may have an impact on our Facility or the regulations that govern our Facility.
- During emergencies, establish a public relations area to assure that the release of information is accurate and within the scope of our established policies governing the release of information during emergency conditions.
- Work with design and printing companies in the development of Facility brochures, newsletters, publications, etc.
- Make written and oral reports and recommendations to the Administrator concerning our Facility’s marketing and public relations programs and activities.
Staff Development Responsibilities of External Marketer
- Assist department directors in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of in- service training classes, on-the-job training, and orientation programs concerning the Facility’s marketing and public relations programs and activities.
- Attend and participate in Facility mandatory in-service training programs as scheduled (e.g., OSHA, TB, HIPAA, Abuse Prevention, etc.).
Budget and Planning Functions and Responsibilities of Admissins External Marketer for a Skilled Nursing Facility
- Prepare a departmental operating budget for approval by the Administrator and allocate the resources to carry out programs and activities of the Facility.
- Assure that adequate financial records and expense reports are submitted to the Administrator, as required.
- Keep abreast of economic conditions and situations and make adjustments, as necessary, to assure the continued ability to provide quality care.
Resident Rights and Responsibilities of Admissions External Marketer for a Skilled Nursing Facility
- Review complaints and grievances made by the resident and make a written or oral report to the Administrator. Follow facility’s established procedures
- Maintain a written record of the resident’s complaints and/or grievances that indicates the action taken to resolve the complaint and the current status of the complaint.
- Must adhere to all HIPAA requirements
- Works in office areas as well as throughout the Facility and its premises.
- Is involved with residents, family members, personnel, visitors, government agencies and personnel, etc., under all conditions or circumstances.
- Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
- Communicates with the media, medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department directors.
Requirements of an Admissions External Marketing Director for a Skilled Nursing Facility
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in marketing and/or public relations.
- One year of admissions/marketing experience required working n a skilled nursing facility
- Three (3) years marketing experience, preferably in a healthcare facility
- Must possess a thorough knowledge of principles of effective communication, mass media, advertising, policies, education, community relations, demonstration, organization structure, social and activity services, and government relations, etc., as they relate to nursing Facility operations.
- Must possess the ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing.
- Must possess the ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information, and make recommendations to the Administrator.
- Must possess the ability to establish, implement, and maintain effective marketing and public relations program.
- Must be able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language
- Must be able to review medical charts and have a comprehension of medical terminology
- Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Strong working knowledge needed of all Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care regulations/guidelines pertaining to Long Term Care
- Knowledge of all nursing home regulations pertaining to admissions, resident rights, etc
- Knowledge of Long Term Care PPS in order to identify preliminary RUG categories for potential admissions
- ·Ability to cost-out medications for potential admissions in order to plan/budget accordingly
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies or personnel and the general public.
- Must have advanced training in hospital or nursing Facility administration.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing the release of information.
- Must possess the ability to seek our new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
- · Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of the Facility, which may include a medical and physical examination.
- may require a minimum of 5 pounds and a maximum of 25 pounds lifting, periodically and or as needed.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
