JOB SUMMARY
Under immediate supervision, provide exemplary patient care and assist dentists during examination and treatment of patients; prepares clinical areas, instruments, and materials; under general supervision, provides imaging services. Utilize four-handed dentistry; periodontal charting and instruct patients in oral hygiene and have a firm grasp of dental procedures. Professionally communicate with Dental Assistant team, faculty, and residents, while providing exemplary patient care.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Utilize special solutions and sterilization bags. Dispose of biohazard accordingly and maintain infection control
- Preparing operatories and instrument trays for procedures for multiple disciplines
- Review schedule for each discipline to properly prepare for the day. Minimal periodontal charting
- Clean, oil, sterilize equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Excellent communications skills
· Team player and ability to multi-task.
· Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
· Ability to operate dental equipment
· Ability to provide imaging services
· Ability to maintain infection control and sterilization of dental equipment
· the ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA policy
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Additional training beyond high school diploma; supplemented with six (6) months of experience or training as a dental assistant.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification is a plus, not required
