Summary
The British International School of Chicago, Lincoln Park is an international school based in Chicago, currently catering to children from 15 months to 11 years of age.
We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic and qualified individuals in the following role: Early Childhood Teacher for one of our two-year-old classrooms. Hours for the position are 7:30am to 4:30pm - one day a week we have a staff meeting until 5:00pm, which we are expected to attend. This is a year round position.
Qualifications
· Must be at least 22 years of age.
· Required: Associates degree or higher (Bachelor's degree preferred).
· Required: Minimum of 6 Early Childhood Education or Child Development credits from an accredited college or university.
· 1 year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center.
· Basic computer and technology skills preferred, though training in specific programs can be provided.

· Demonstrate organizational skills.
· Possess good written and oral communication skills.
· Be punctual and have the ability to manage own time effectively.
· Must maintain personal qualities and ‘General Requirements for All Staff’ as required by Section 407.100 of the Licensing Standards for Day Care Centers.
Teaching and Learning
· Help to maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment.
· Assist Assistant Director in planning provision as well as prepare learning resources.
· Deploy Early Childhood Learning Assistants throughout the classroom, as needed.
· Provide children with self-care support skills, language and social development skills, supervise, as well as monitor children.
· Work with students individually or in small groups.
· Liaise with Early Childhood Learning Assistants and Assistant Director regarding students’ progress and behavior.
· Attend professional development and training sessions.
· Enforce school rules and policies.
· Must believe in and act in accordance with our school’s mission and vision statements.
Early Childhood Teacher Responsibilities
· Communicate with parents at drop-off and pick times; asking questions about the child’s wellbeing and providing information about the child’s day.
· Assist Assistant Director to plan for, prepare resources, and deliver lesson plans that facilitate active learning, as well as prepare learning resources.
· Maintain a comprehensive and ongoing portfolio for each child, including daily and weekly observations in each area of learning and appropriate developmental assessment.
· Deploy Early Childhood Learning Assistants throughout the classroom, as needed.
·Hold bi-yearly parent/teacher conferences with families.
·Write student reports at the end of last term.
· Must ensure compliance with DCFS regulations.'
