Your Impact:
Reporting directly to the Vice President, Finance and Business Operations, the Senior Director, Finance and Business Operations will oversee all financial operations and be responsible for financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis to ensure the organization’s financial health and sustainability. Key responsibilities include overseeing the accounting processes, financial reporting, grant management, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in nonprofit financial management, strong leadership, management, and communication skills, and a commitment to the organization’s mission and values.
What Will You Do:
The following is an overview of the duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. The employee may perform other duties as required.
Financial Sustainability and Financial Modeling
Drive towards financial sustainability metrics by reviewing, analyzing, preparing, and presenting financial and budget reports including monthly financial statements and annual financial reports
Provide financial analysis statements including monthly balance sheet, income statement, cash flows statement, and actual to budget and last year variance analysis
Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
Analyze NTC’s financial performance against key business metrics
Prepare financial statements and reports for the leadership team, NTC’s Finance Committee, and board of directors, including forecasts of income and expenses to support decision-making
Lead the continuous improvement of financial systems and processes. Research industry best practices and implement new financial systems that result in more streamlined and secure financial operations.
Create financial ad hoc reports to provide visibility about the financial health of the organization, e.g., cost analysis and multi-year projections
Financial Planning and Budgeting
Co-own the annual budgeting process with the VP of Finance and Business Operations prepare both the initial and revised budgets, and monitor progress towards meeting budget goals through preparing actuals-to-budget reports monthly.
Evaluate, analyze, and propose solutions to cost-impact reviews of personnel policies and programs, such as employee benefit plans and comp plans.
Prepare budget presentations for the Leadership Team, Executive Team, Board of Directors, and department heads as needed
Leadership & Management
Manage and develop direct reports (Director of Finance and Director of Accounting) to a sustained high level of performance through coaching and mentorship to ensure they are constantly acquiring new skills, as well as enhancing and growing their current skills to ensure that they have the necessary tools and resources to perform their duties effectively.
Oversee day-to-day accounting and finance functions.
Foster a team culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Model a solutions-oriented approach to challenges as they arise.
Collaborate with Development, Program, accounting, and finance staff to ensure appropriate budgeting and accounting of NTC’s revenue streams.
What You Bring:
An MBA or Master’s degree with a concentration in finance or a similar field is required.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in progressive leadership/management positions in financial planning and analysis, finance, financial operations, or similar areas. Preferably in the nonprofit sector.
Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, funds accounting, and grant management.
5+ years of direct people management experience, managing teams or departments.
A problem solver who tackles problems and generates solutions in a timely manner. Operates with a high sense of urgency and responsiveness, balanced by a need to provide accurate information based on strategic priorities.

Ability to multitask and oversee competing deadlines
Strong decision-making skills and the focus and determination to see projects through to the end.
Detail-oriented, well-organized, and structured in the creation and presentation of information. Ability to synthesize complex financial matters into clearly articulated financial and business summaries, with not only the "rolled up" numbers but also the explanation/narrative about the business implications
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficiency with accounting software (we use NetSuite); Spreadsheet software (Excel and Google Sheets), and Word Processing software.

This position offers a competitive starting salary range of $151,200- $170,100 and a robust benefits package. At NTC, in determining a salary offer for a role, we consider the role, experience, and skills needed while maintaining equity in our compensation bands. Must Be Able To:
