Job Description: Patent Prosecution Paralegal

RemX is assisting our client, a top ranked global law firm, with a search for a full-time Patent Prosecution Paralegal to join their Dallas office. This role will provide crucial support to their Intellectual Property & Technology (IP&T) Practitioners and the national IP&T Practice Group. Reporting directly to the Practice Group Leader, the Patent Prosecution Paralegal will work closely with assigned practice group lawyers and paraprofessionals. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a solid understanding of both US and international patent lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and prosecute patent applications domestically and internationally, including electronic filings.
- Assist attorneys in drafting and editing domestic and foreign prosecution documents for USPTO submissions, such as new applications, responses to office actions, and information disclosure statements.
- Draft, edit, and file Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications.
- Liaise with foreign counsel for patent applications outside the US, including managing payments and vendor relationships.
- Review Notice of Allowance and assist in issue fee payments.
- Prepare declarations, certificates of correction, and corrected filing receipts.
- Maintain client correspondence records and task completion reports.
- Generate status reports and fulfill client-requested tasks.
- File individual actions and oversee docket tracking and maintenance.
- Collaborate with IPT Docketing Department to ensure accurate docket management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Associate's Degree, Paralegal Certificate, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in patent prosecution, demonstrating high-quality service delivery.
- Strong understanding of US and foreign patent lifecycles.
- Proficiency in Private PAIR for file wrapper review and PCT Safe for filing PCT applications.
- Familiarity with patent docket databases (e.g., IP Manager, Inprotech, CPI).
- Experience with patent-related online platforms (e.g., WIPO PatentScope, Espacenet).
- Effective time management skills in a legal environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Professional demeanor, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, PDF tools, document management software, and timekeeping software.
