Queens-based non-profit social services agency serving individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages and seeking a Shift Supervisor in the IRA located in Queens.
STATEMENT OF THE JOB
The IRA Shift Supervisor supervises all programs and activities on a given shift and ensures that all work assignments are carried out and that individual protection is maintained.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The IRA Shift Supervisor reports directly to the IRA Manager and finally to the Assistant Director of Residential Services .
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
1. As a Direct Support Professional, the IRA Shift Supervisor assumes all the duties and responsibilities of that job classification, including providing coverage as needed.
2. Provide supervision and assistance in individual programming and for all activities and work assignments on a given shift. Ensure that the proper documentation has been completed.
3. Handle emergency situations as the supervisor on duty in the absence of the IRA Manager.
4. Assist in the training of new Direct Support Professionals.
5. In the absence of the IRA Manager, schedule and supervise staff and relief workers, including AMAP coverage.
6. Assume managerial oversight responsibilities for the IRA program and ensure quality of care for individuals in the absence of the IRA Manager.
7. Have a working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and policies and procedures applicable to the Agency's IRA program.
8. Uphold and protect the rights of all individuals served.
9. Have a working knowledge of all individual's goals to provide quality input at 6-month and annual review meetings.
10. In coordination with the IRA Manager, assist in purchasing food and household items.
11. In coordination with the IRA Manager, assist in purchasing individuals' clothing and personal articles and verifying that the proper items have been purchased and are in the consumers' possession.
12. In coordination with the IRA Manager, schedule medical appointments and attend as needed.
13. In coordination with the IRA Manager, plan recreational activities.
14. Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions and staff training as scheduled.
15. Provide crisis intervention as needed (upon completion of an approved SCIP course).
16. Provide First Aid and CPR when needed (upon completion of an approved First Aid and CPR course).
17. In coordination with the IRA Manager, review the Medex for accuracy and conformity to all OPWDD and Agency requirements and monitor the medication supply.
18. Assist in maintaining a safe and clean physical plant.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma required. Some college education preferred.
EXPERIENCE
2-5 years working with the ID/ DD population.
Some supervisory experience is preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma
Covid-19 Vaccine card
CPR, First Aid, SCIP and AMAP Training required.
NYS Driver’s license required.
Ability to work flexible hours including mandatory overtime as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
