As a Traffic Assistant Manager ll, you will assist the Traffic Manager in establishing and maintaining AZ OTR Fleet performance in all areas of our business including recruiting, retention, operations, safety, budgeting, etc.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Coordinates with dispatch for efficient and effective fleet resource utilization.
- Build strong relationships with each driver and always maintain a professional respectful demeanor when communicating with the drivers.
- Ensure that the “pick-up” and “delivery” of loads assigned to OTR drivers are reasonable and fall within acceptable safety practices. Work with drivers to ensure all those expectations are met.
- Assists with vehicle safety issues.
- Supports dispatch and contact drivers to ensure on-timedelivery.
- Coordinates training for drivers based on individual performance within key areas.
- Review Hours of Service for all drivers.
- Leads continuous improvement efforts while applying lean thinking and tools to eliminate waste.
- Maintain a record of Equipment readiness and work with the Shops to maintain all trucks.
- Report OOS trucks to Traffic Director.
Job Summary:
We are searching for a driven Traffic Manager Assistant II who will supervise support staff within the transportation department as they assist in monitoring the following key areas: Customer/Transportation Services Management, Cost Management/Legal Compliance, Carrier Management, General Responsibilities, Continual Improvement, and Occupational Characteristics. The Transportation Assistant Manager will help collect data for generating reports and creating presentations for briefing higher-echelon staff.
Pay Range: $57,000 - 61,000
Key Responsibilities for Transportation Assistant Manager :
- Assist in managing the daily work activities of Transportation Team Members to ensure all customer accounts are supported as expected.
- Conduct annual carrier (vendor) evaluations to ensure that the company’s expectations are being met.
- Ensure that results of evaluations are utilized to increase carrier performance and/or to address any deficiencies in carrier services.
- Compile and generate reports as they report to operational needs.
- Maintain and file all records in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Support environmental, health, and safety programs.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment.
- Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned by upper management.
- Assist Traffic Manager in all aspects of a driver’s day by communicating with drivers, Dispatch and Logistics Manager to schedule driver pickup and deliveries; taking into account the delivery deadline, driver HOS, driver home time, equipment availability, and other outside factors such as weather, traffic, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Transportation Assistant Manager :
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Experience in Supply Chain Management, Operations, or similar field.
- Project management experience
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience in operations, logistics, or CDL Driving.
- Complete understanding of FMCSA Rules and Regulations and HOS.
- Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to take initiative and think strategically.
- Transportation management and leadership skills.
- Flexible and open to change.
- Ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including a laptop computer and cell phone. The employee is generally required to spend long periods sitting, typing, and working at a computer.
