Handling inbound calls, verifying benefits, and addressing inquiries are key responsibilities in this role. Customer Service:
- Answering a high volume of inbound calls promptly and efficiently, adhering to agreed-upon response time metrics and SLA’s.
- Logging call information accurately when necessary.
- Maintaining professional, courteous, and clear communication with providers, members, and clients.
- Resolving customer inquiries and issues effectively and efficiently.
- Maintaining excellent customer service communication with providers and other internal departments.
Organization and Communication:
- Maintaining effective relationships with co-workers and supervisors, demonstrating professionalism, efficiency, and courtesy.
- Demonstrating highly developed organizational skills to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while ensuring a high level of quality.
- Working collaboratively with other team members to achieve departmental goals.
- Advising the department or unit of potential issues by identifying trends in the types of calls received.
Technical Skills:
- Utilizing knowledge of health claims, coding, plan designs, and PPO networks to provide accurate information to callers.
- Demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for completing necessary tasks and forms.
- Completing forms for follow-up with other departments accurately and efficiently.
- Pursuing personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for effective job performance.
Insurance Experience in Healthcare Sector (Preferred):
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in insurance, particularly within the healthcare sector.
- Familiarity with healthcare insurance processes, terminology, and regulations is highly desirable.
- Candidates with a background in medical offices, medical facilities, or related healthcare settings will be considered favorably.
Other Responsibilities:
- Completing projects assigned by the manager in a timely and efficient manner.
- Attending mandatory workshops and team meetings.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Must Haves:
- High school education or equivalent.
- 1 year of customer service/call center experience.
- Excellent organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility in a changing environment.
- Ability to multi-task and navigate different computer systems and applications.
Nice to Haves:
- Medical background a plus (e.g., experience in a medical office or medical facility).
- Bilingual candidates preferred (English and Spanish).
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- This is a hybrid position, requiring attendance at the office for training and meetings.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 80% of the time.
- Close visual acuity is necessary for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and reading extensively.
- Must be able to lift or move items up to 20lbs and have the ability to move files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary.
