Previous experience in a public school environment preferred
- Bilingual; Spanish required

Mastery of communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, parents and families

Duties & Responsibilities:

Oversee/Manage a caseload and calendar of special education students and the implementation of their IEPs
-
Own the process of sharing student IEPs with grade level teams both at the start of the academic year as well as when students are new enrollees

Effectively communicate to parents and guardians the special education process including process for referrals, evaluations, annual IEPs/504 plans, and re-evaluations as well as parental rights granted by IDEA

Oversee the creation, dissemination, and review of teacher reports prior to IEP meetings to ensure all documents are completed in a timely manner (according to state, local, and school policies and procedures)

Connect with the special education team to ensure all team members (including parents) are prepared for the content of IEP meeting.

Facilitate IEP meetings using a strengths-based and family-centered approach as well as identifying resources for parents of students with special needs
- Prepare for and act as school representative in meetings with the CSE (Committee on Special Education) (annual reviews, tri-annual reviews, initials, etc.)

Partner with and educate new staff on IEP writing and best practices to support students
- Coordinate with CSE and outside agencies to secure providers and follow up on compliance

Maintain student files (paper and electronic) according to school and OSSE standards
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and student information
- Other duties as assigned
