Position Summary: The Hospital Kennel Technician is responsible for the care of all hospital animals. This position is responsible for performing the cleaning, maintenance, and sanitizing of kennels and associated equipment and ensuring food and water are provided to the animals. The candidate must demonstrate excellent relations with DVMs and medical team. Feeds animals as scheduled and ensures water is always available. Cleans and sanitizes kennel areas, equipment, and outside areas of grounds, maintains inventory of animals, equipment and supplies, updates animal information or any health/behavioral problems displayed by animals to supervisor immediately or by DVM med slips. Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required. This position reports to the Hospital Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Cleans hospital kennel areas throughout the day, to include all runs, cages, halls, and floors.
- Feeds and waters all hospital animals, monitors food intake and output and reports changes to Hospital Manager.
- Exercises all ambulatory hospital animals at least twice daily in play yard.
- Monitors behavior and characteristics of hospital animals and notifies the Hospital Manager or the Veterinary Technician on duty of any changes.
- Washes, dries, and folds all hospital laundry and maintains an orderly hospital laundry room.
- Monitors and maintains suitable stock of cleaning and restroom supplies.
- Maintains suitable inventory of food and litter.
- Cleans all dishes and litter pans used by hospital animals.
- Cleans play yard daily of animal waste.
- Performing related duties and fulfilling responsibilities as required.
Job Requirements: • High School Diploma or GED certificate required. • Prior shelter experience preferred but not required. • Must be comfortable with animal handling in a treatment ward. • Must be energetic and able to work mornings, holidays and/or weekends. • Must be able to work indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions. • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and have strong time management skills

Pay: $14.52 - $16.25 per hour
