Summary:
Responsible for providing basic administrative support services for clerical operations.
Responsibilities:
Demonstrates knowledge of the organization’s mission and core values and incorporates them into the performance of duties at the practice
Greets and screens telephone calls in a pleasant and professional manner; handles calls or directs caller to the appropriate person or area
Takes messages and transfers calls appropriately
Schedules new patient appointments; schedules follow-up appointments
Obtains insurance pre-authorizations for treatments and diagnostic procedures
Ensures that appropriate procedure and diagnosis coding is utilized in the pre-certification and verification process and questions physicians, if appropriate, to ensure accuracy and completeness of information
Maintains cooperative and professional relationships with physicians, nurses and all office and clinical staff
Answers patient questions to ensure understanding and patient satisfactionMaintains confidentiality on matters to which they are privileged
Handles stressful situations with little or no supervision; functions as a respectful member of the health care team
Types routine material such as forms and letters, envelopes, etc
Types materials neatly, accurately and according to instructionsWrites materials clearly and legibly
Maintains and receives files for area
Maintains files in organized and up-to-date manner in order to facilitate their retrieval
Completes filing in accordance with departmental procedures
Sorts and distributes documents and forms for area section
Distributes materials according to the content of communications and departmental procedures
Logs in materials with respect to time and data when applicable
Processes incoming and outgoing documents
Completes forms neatly
Secures appropriate signatures and forwards documents/forms to the correct destination based on pertinent Medical Center procedures
Maintains copy for files
Faxes documents in accordance with departmental procedures
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and one year of relevant medical, clerical experience.
- Prior physician practice experience and knowledge of medical terminology a plus.
- Experience with EMR software.
- Light, accurate keyboarding skills required.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $24.00 per hour
