iVenture Accounting Group, a growing business focused on the accounting, financial, and tax needs of entrepreneurs of small and mid-sized organizations, is seeking a Senior Accountant /Financial Analyst to be a part of our Falls Church, Virginia office team. The successful candidate must be able to lead and motivate a small accounting staff and increase department accuracy and efficiency. To be successful as a Senior Accountant, you should have a solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and strong financial analysis skills. An outstanding senior accountant should also be able to learn and operate a variety of accounting software packages and possess strong Excel skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to work with little to no supervision and perform under pressure.
Location: One of our 3 locations in the DC Metro area (Rockville, MD; Fairfax, VA or Falls Church, VA)
Responsibilities
- Manage full accounting process, including daily tasks and monthly preparation of financial statements for a group of growing business clients on a cash and accrual basis
- Handle monthly, quarterly and annual closings based on the client engagement.
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Prepare budget forecasts as needed
- Ensure timely bank reconciliations and payments as needed
- Manage Balance Sheets and Profit & Loss statements
- Work in close cooperation and collaboration with the iVenture tax team on client needs
- Document client interactions to keep track of client deliverables and issue resolution
- Provide client advice and maintain positive client relationships
- Compute taxes and prepare sales/use tax returns
- Oversee 1 to 2 staff accountants providing services to clients
- Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary
- Comply with financial policies and regulations
Requirements and Skills
- Self-motivated, engaging and independent professional
- Knowledge and experience with accrual and job cost accounting
- Experience and understanding of GAAP especially as related to non-profit (ie, revenue recognition and leases)
- Experience with audits and responding to auditors
- Ability to read grant agreements and set up accounting to meet them while maintaining standardization

- Able to multi-task - proven experience to jump from project/client to project/client
- Hands-on experience with accounting software like Xero and QuickBooks
- Experience with general ledger functions
- Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills; must also be able to see bigger financial management picture
- Bachelor in Accounting or related degree; CPA is a plus
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Experience in Public Accounting is a plus
- Experience reviewing other accountants' work and seeing discrepancies

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
