This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate who is considering medical school, becoming a physician assistant, or other related healthcare profession. You will receive hands-on patient care experience and have the chance at obtaining a letter of recommendation from our well-renowned physicians in addition to the opportunity to publish clinical research in ophthalmology.
No previous medical experience necessary but preferred. You will receive on the job training with no certification required. We have trained many medical back office technicians who have gone to successful careers as physicians and physician assistants. This is a great opportunity in the medical field with work experience and responsibilities that will make a positive impact on patients’ lives.
Responsibilities
- Direct Patient care
- Intake patient medical history and chief complaints, and perform additional pre-examination duties, including visual acuities, intraocular pressures, assessing pupils, confrontational fields, etc.
- Perform diagnostic retinal testing
- Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician
- Documents medical findings for physician and facilitates communication between physician and patient
- Assist with outpatient surgical procedures such as intravitreal injections and prophylactic laser treatments
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Highly motivated
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, team environment
- Computer/typing skills
- Willingness to be flexible, adaptable, and do whatever is necessary to provide excellent patient care
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with staff, doctors, and patients
- Ophthalmic experience preferred
- Effective oral and written communication
- Delivers safe and appropriate care to patients in addition to the requirements outlined by company protocols
- Ability to work under pressure and remain calm in highly stressful daily situations
- Excellent interpersonal skills
This position may require travel to our DTLA office as well as working on the weekends. Staff are compensated for travel time and given mileage reimbursement. A clean driving record and proof of vehicle liability insurance are required.
