The role of a Structural Engineer is to work as an integrated team member on a variety of residential structural projects. The successful candidate will serve in an inspection & design role and will be responsible for performing simple and complex design and structural analysis assignments. Work will be performed both independently and under the guidance of a Senior Structural Engineer on complex assignments. Your duties will be to perform, manage, and support projects including structural inspections and design sets.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts structural evaluations of residential properties
- Explains technical findings to clients both in verbal and written form
- Interacts with clients and their representation for property needs
- Applies structural engineering principles to provide engineering solutions for assessment, evaluation, design, rehabilitation, and strengthening residential structures
- Manages the structural tasks for multi-discipline projects, consisting of developing structure rehabilitation or replacement strategies, completing structural analysis, design for a variety of residential structures, and preparing contract documents, specifications and reports
- Conducts advanced interpretations and quality reviews of drawings, codes, and other similar materials

QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, to engage in creative and critical thought, and to effectively communicate concepts and ideas to others
- Self-motivated person with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Be a detailed oriented and highly organized individual that can demonstrate the initiative and commitment to a final professional product for clients
- Willing to network and market with new clientele
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Valid drivers license required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited University
- P.E preferred; EIT required
- Experience designing with IBC, ASCE, NDS etc.
- AutoCAD experience
- Inspection experience preferred
PAY & ROLE FULFILLMENT
This position is PRN as job needs become available. Pay is structured at an hourly rate and will be determined based on an individuals education, experience and qualifications.
The position is ideal for candidates looking for an additional stream of income or a less than part time work environment.
Primary Location : United States-New Mexico-Albuquerque
Position is primarily remote; inspections require field visits. Short term travel around the state of New Mexico may be required on an occasional basis to perform field inspections or site visits. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
