Ivarson inc. specializes in the production and service of custom dairy packaging and processing equipment. Our in-house machine shop provides production needs for our new machine builds and machine rebuilds. We also supply replacement components for field service repairs and customer orders. This position consists of daily operation on Manual Engine Lathes and Knee Mills. Due to our high mix/ low volume production environment, our Manual Machinist are required to perform a wide range of different processes within a given day.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret Blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and a variety of different materials to turn parts in a short run close tolerance (.0005”) job shop environment.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speeds, feeds, coolant flow, depth of cut, angle of cut, and tool pressure to ensure tolerance and finish requirements.
- Verify conformance of finished work piece to specification using proper measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gage blocks, gage pins, height gages, depth gages, and bore gages.
- Perform daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks to ensure machine and work area are kept clean and in good working condition.
- Work with machine shop manager weekly on the status of workflow to ensure schedule is being met.
