Under the direct supervision of the Curriculum Specialist and Behavior Specialist, the Instructional Assistant (Special Assignment) assists the Curriculum Department and Behavior Department with tasks related to facilitating and encouraging quality student instruction.
- Observing instruction and implementation of lesson plans through walkthroughs and informal observations under the direction of the Curriculum Specialist.
- Observing behavior management and implementation of behavior plans and classroom management strategies through walkthroughs and informal observations under the direction of the Behavior Specialist.
- Reviewing lesson plans according to lesson plan protocol.
- Reviewing incident reports according to incident report protocol, then uploading approval incident reports to PandaDoc for electronic signature.
- Uploading or entering student information in instructional programs, and managing login information for instructional programs.
- Tracking Safety Care training and scheduling for new hires.
- Tracking Relias trainings and completion of RBT coursework for staff.
- Assisting with testing training and scheduling for as Assistant to the School Assessment Coordinator.
- Assisting with school and community events under the direction of the Curriculum Specialist (i.e., Science Fair, Dr. Seuss Day, Family Fridays engagement events).
- Maintain strong working relationships with school staff and stakeholders.
- All other duties as assigned by your direct supervisor or FACE Principal.

Education and/or Experience:
Minimum of a High School Diploma. A minimum of 2 years working with children with disabilities preferred. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)certificate required. No Teacher Certificate preferred (candidates with Teacher Certificate are overqualified; should apply for Teacher position).
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups or employees of organization.
Mathematical and Computer Skills:
Ability to perform basic math functions and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages. Proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may occasionally be required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move a maximum of 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, and peripheral vision, color and depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Depending on the school and student population served, the employee may occasionally be required to physically restrain clients, using authorized restraint procedures as a last resort for protection of student and staff.
Work Environment:
The work environment for this position is a school setting. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be exposed to students who may ask inappropriate personal questions, display socially unacceptable personal behaviors, use profanity and sexually explicit phrases, make insulting remarks or threats regarding appearance, age, sex, or race, and exhibit defiance, dishonesty, and assaultive or self-destructive behaviors. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, and may be subject to occasional travel as required by facility needs. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
