Responsible for daily operations of forklift and yard mule, and performing warehouse work, including loading/unloading of trailers/containers, as well as having the ability to understand and assist with inventory transactions and assist with other operational items in the warehouse. Additionally, will assist driving tractor trucks and transporting containers or breakbulk cargo (via flatbed) from and to local Port/terminals to and from identified local warehouses within a 35-mile radius from garage location of truck but could exceed to up to 100 miles, if needed. We are looking for an individual who is a team player, good work ethic and attitude.
Job Responsibilities:
- Drives propane/electric /diesel forklift or yard mule to push, pull, lift, stack, tier or move products and materials
- Pulls orders from storage areas and compare them with order forms/specification sheet and ensures the exact number and types of product is loaded.
- Verifies load accuracy; checks the load count, stability, and product damage, reports variances and damage as necessary
- Keeps appropriate records and reports for inventory accuracy
- Selects appropriate packing materials/equipment and packs cargo in accordance with appropriate procedures
- Utilizes supplies efficiently with no undue waste
- Ensures that each van/container is sealed and verified with appropriate information
- Loads/Unloads cargo to/from trucks/containers using proper equipment
- Receives product deliveries, inspect and ensure proper storage
- Arranges items in an organized manner to avoid damage or premature wear and tear
- Creates or assists with inventory count as needed
- Complies with all OSHA safety regulations and company policies and safety programs.
- Performs daily checks on inspection of equipment to determine need for repairs and guarantees safety by performing regular maintenance.
- Double checks that all security requirements are followed
- Transporting containers or breakbulk cargo (via flatbed) from and to Port/terminal to and from identified warehouses within a 35-mile radius from garage location of truck
- Inspecting trucks for mechanical items and safety issue and performing preventative maintenance
- Meeting inbound and outbound delivery schedules
- Maneuvering trucks into loading and unloading positions
- Collecting and verifying inbound and outbound delivery instructions
- Reporting defects, accidents, violations, or citations to supervisor
- Performing other duties and projects, including but not limited to hauling alternate equipment types or working in warehouse, as needed
- Optimizes space and maintains the warehouse, equipment and materials, and other workspaces in a neat, clean and orderly fashion
Position Requirements:
- Proven experience as forklift operator, with a minimum of one (1) year experience, with valid certification to operate forklifts
- Must have a valid CDLA License
- Minimum of two (2) year’s experience with Class A CDL Truck driving experience and/or training; of equivalent combination of education and experience
- No DUI or similar violations on motor vehicle record; no other moving or driving violations within the past seven years
- Working knowledge of federal, state and local truck driving rules and regulations
- Ability to read, count and interpret document (written in English) related to delivery schedules, bills of lading, loading and unloading, and other driver’s duties and projects
- Prior warehouse experience, including stacking cargo on pallets or into bundles and performing general warehouse housekeeping
- Attention to detail and familiarity with warehouse equipment
- Excellent physical condition and coordination
- Capable of sitting, standing and walking for extended periods.
- Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to use proper lifting technique to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.
- Ability to read, speak and comprehend English, count accurately, perform basic math equations and write legibly.
- Ability to follow detailed order instructions
- Ability to follow all safety and standard operating protocols and policies.

- Ability to work overtimes as necessary

Preferred experience/skills:
- Prior experience driving a yard mule or the willingness to learn.
