Job Description:
We are seeking a diligent and compassionate Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team at Luminary Dermatology. The ideal candidate will assist our dermatologists in delivering high-quality patient care, performing various clinical and administrative tasks with precision and empathy.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for procedures.
- Obtain patient medical history, including medication lists and allergies.
- Assist dermatologists during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Provide patient education on skincare regimens and treatment plans.
- Perform wound care and dressing changes as directed by the dermatologist.
Clinical Support:
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
- Sterilize medical instruments and equipment following established protocols.
- Assist with minor surgical procedures, including biopsies and excisions.
- Perform basic laboratory tests such as skin scrapings and cultures.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Administrative Tasks:
- Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits.
- Manage patient records, including filing and retrieval.
- Coordinate referrals to specialists and diagnostic testing facilities.
- Handle phone calls and inquiries from patients, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers.
- Assist with insurance verification and billing processes.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with dermatologists, nurses, and other medical assistants to ensure efficient workflow and patient care delivery.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
- Contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is desirable.
- Previous experience in a dermatology or medical office setting is an asset.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, EMR systems, and basic computer skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and patient needs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
