Product Owner

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Owner to join our innovative Change team, working alongside a cross functional in-house team of Analysts, Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Testers, Delivery Managers, and external suppliers.
You’ll play a pivotal role in translating the Business vision into a set of tangible deliverables, enabling the business to scale and to provide a better service to our Brokers, Partners and Customers.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify, prioritize, deliver, and manage the adoption of features for our new platform, acting as the voice of the customers to translate business requirements into actionable development tasks which deliver maximum value through proactive management of the product backlog, development scope, user adoption and tracking of outcome realization.
The Product Owner will have autonomy to drive the product vision and roadmap to ensure we continuously enhance our Digital capabilities. You will be responsible for creating the product roadmap and backlog, planning, and will be accountable for maximizing the value of each sprint in line with sprint goals and the wider product backlog.
The ideal candidate can collaborate effectively with others, possesses strong communication skills, a deep understanding of user needs, and the ability to drive product success through proactive decision making and leadership. The types of changes our teams are driving forward include building new and enhancing existing Underwriting products to drive profitable growth, cloud transformation, core system / portal / API enhancements, data integration and exploring self service capabilities to name a few.
Key responsibilities

Collaborate with stakeholders to define, own, and proactively manage the product vision, roadmap and backlog, ensuring each sprint is valuable and aligned to the objectives of the Business vision.

Conduct workshops and analysis to design and define delivery iterations, gather requirements, assess value, ensure work is prioritized and focused on delivering maximum value to our Brokers/ Partners/ Customers/the business.

Capture requirements as increments of delivery and refine with the delivery team; ensure they are well thought through with clear acceptance criteria to ensure requirements are met.

Be the first point of contact for the development team to answer questions, clarify requirements and clear user stories.

Act as the voice of the customer, ensuring everyone understands the business value of the delivery increments and represent the needs of our customers on a day-to-day basis within the delivery team.

Actively participates in team events – stand ups, refinement, planning, sprint reviews and retrospectives and partners with the Scrum teams to ensure that these are successful.

Make informed decisions based on data, user insights, and business priorities.

Provide feedback on the roadmap to the Product Manager, escalating risks, issues, and blockers raised by the delivery team and advising on actual vs. expected progress and any knock-on impact to the product roadmap.

Maintain a deep understanding of the industry, market dynamics and emerging technologies.

Build strong, productive relationships inside and outside of Hiscox to deliver effective solutions based on a strong understanding of the business drivers and benefits for each party.

Embed and manage the adoption of product features, tracking the realization of business benefits/value.
Must haves
-
Certified Agile Product Owner
-
Proven experience working on large, complex projects, programs, or products with proven ability to deliver lasting value to stakeholders.

Experience of the Insurance industry is desirable

Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, experience working with Scrum or Kanban, experience working in Agile delivery teams, managing a backlog, and ensuring business value is prioritized, successfully delivered and embedded.

Experience operating in a challenging organizational environment with a requirement to balance differing priorities and demands while ensuring that change management disciplines are maintained.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Ability to work independently and take your own initiative to get things done.

An ability to communicate complex or technical concepts into straightforward language which can be easily understood by business stakeholders and senior executives.

An aptitude for customer centric problem solving and challenging the status quo and an analytical mindset with the ability to take a data-driven approach to decision-making.

Salary Range
$110,000 to $140,000
